It’s a tie game with one second left, Ally Estrada at the line for the Bath Bees about to shoot her second free throw. She gets the ball from the referee, she pounds the ball at the ground, takes a deep breath, and shoots. Everyone on the bench and on the court holding their breath and my teammates grabbing each other's hands. This was the most stressful game I had ever played in my life. The day started out the way a game day usually does, my team choose what we would wear to school, and we just had a typical school day. Talking to our friends about how much homework and tests suck, that kind of stuff. After school is out, I rode the bus home with my little sister. When I got home I mostly just ate some snacks, and watched either Netflix or Youtube sometimes both. Then, got all dressed for my game. Lastly, I listened to that type of music that makes you jump around and belt your heart out and makes you look like a complete idiot. Some of my personal favorites are “Without Me” by Eminem, “Walk It Talk It” by Migos featuring Drake, “Lose Yourself” by Eminem, and “Wow” by Post Malone. Plus, some oldies like “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder, “Signed Sealed Delivered” by Stevie Wonder and last but certainly not least “Hooked on a Feeling” by Blue Swede. After listening to my music I was all ready and hype for my game. My dad dropped me off at the High school around 4:45 and I met my teammates in the locker room where we were all trying to get our nerves out. We were nervous because we had to play Fowler, we played them once before that year and they destroyed us. But we were all most excited and wanted revenge because we knew we could beat them. Then we listened to our team hype up song, which is our team tradition. Usually, when we sing our song it is less of singing and more of a yelling which is almost loud enough to have everyone in the gym hear us, but it doesn’t matter to us and we do it anyway. We all walked out and did our stretches on our half of the court giggling for some reason as we did it, with some of the Bath parents also talking to us while we stretched. After stretching we went through our loads of warm-up drills and watched Fowler warm up a little, which made me more nervous. Then before we knew it the game was about to start. We all took off our warm-up jackets and the starters sat on the bench ready to be announced. For Bath the starters we me, Megan Cook, Hailey Bila, Sara Derrick, and Ally Estrada. At tip-off, Bath got the ball and got an easy layup. Throughout the whole game, it was close Fowler would be in front, then Bath would be in front it just went back and forth. At half time we were losing by 5 or 6. In the second half, we started to fall behind a little bit more and were losing by ten. During a time out we calmed down and got our head in the game. The gap between us lessened and lessened until we finally were back out front. Then with less than a minute left when we were tied again, Ally Estrada gets fouled and shoots two free throws which she misses. Neither team could score. Now we are back to where we were, one second left, tie game. Ally Estrada again shooting for the Bath Bees and she misses her first free throw. Then she gets the ball from the referee, she pounds the ball at the ground, takes a deep breath, and shoots. It hits the rim and bounces around the rim a couple of times everyone in the gym holding their breath, but the ball bounces out. Fowler rebounds the ball but couldn’t get a shot off in time so we had to go into overtime. In overtime the ball had to be tipped off again, Fowler won the tip-off that time. Even with 5 extra minutes it was difficult for anybody to score. However, when someone did score the bench and parents from that team would scream their lungs out and jump up and down. Eventually again there was about a minute left and we were tied again for about the fourth or fifth time. Ally gets fouled and was about to shoot two more free throws. Our whole team was nervous because Ally wasn’t doing really well shooting her free throws. Ally gets ready to shoot her free throws she does her same little routine then shoots. She makes it and the whole Bath bench went nuts. So we were now ahead by one and everyone was still very nervous. Ally still got one more free throw so the pressure was still on. My heart was beating out of my chest. This was the most nervous I had ever been in my life. Ally gets the ball again she shoots it and misses. Fowler got the rebound and was trying to get it past half court but was struggling. They threw a bad pass and Bath intercepted it made the whole bench ecstatic. The clocked ticked down and hit zero. We won and we got our revenge and it was the best feeling in the world. It was the most stressful game of my life and I will certainly never forget it.
